Department of Orthopaedics
Orthopedic Department has been providing its services since 2015. Since then it has become center of excellence in the field of Trauma and Orthopaedic care in far eastern region of Nepal. Orthopaedic department is providing State-of-the-art orthopedic services for the patients of Eastern Nepal. At present this department along with eminent orthopaedic surgeons is providing subspecialty services regarding orthopaedic problems. Orthopaedic problems mostly seen in this department are Trauma, Sports injuries, Spine trauma, herniated cervical and lumbar disc, Tumors, hand injuries including traumatic amputation of limbs, degenerative diseases including Osteoarthritis of knee and hip, Pediatric orthopaedic problems etc. Day by day orthopaedic department is transforming into an advance state-of-the-art department. Now with the introduction of Purbanchal cancer hospital; sister organization of B&C Medical college Teaching hospital and research center, department is also taking care of Musculoskeletal oncology patients. Experienced surgeons are running the outpatient, inpatient, emergency and operative services round the clock. Orthopaedic operating room is well equipped with Lamina air flow, Image intensifier, Operating Microscope, Arthroscopic Tower, and the entire instrument required for orthopaedic surgery. Department is capable of performing all kinds of musculoskeletal operations. Department is not only focused on taking care of patients at the hospital; it also runs community health care camps, which includes screening camps for musculoskeletal cancer and public awareness programs. Apart from those activities department also focuses on academic activities like CME, Seminars, Weekly classes, and Organizing national conferences.
